Caramel Pecan Dream Bars


1 box yellow cake mix
1/3 cup soft margarine
1 egg
For the Caramel Layer:
1/3 cup heavy cream
For the Pecan Topping:

1 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons soft margarine
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

Follow these simple steps to create your own batch of Caramel Pecan Dream Bars:

  1. Prepare the Crust:
    Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and set aside.
    In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, soft margarine, and egg. Mix until well combined and a dough forms.
    Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
  2. Bake the Crust:

Place the crust in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly golden brown. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly.

  1. Make the Caramel Layer:

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel candies and heavy cream. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the caramels are melted and smooth.
Pour the melted caramel mixture over the baked crust, spreading it out evenly with a spatula.

  1. Prepare the Pecan Topping:

In a separate bowl, mix together the chopped pecans, granulated sugar, soft margarine, and all-purpose flour until well combined.
Sprinkle the pecan topping evenly over the caramel layer.

  1. Bake and Serve:
    an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the pecan topping is golden brown and caramelized.
    Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely before slicing and serving.
