1 Ib (450g) ground beef
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
For the Mushroom Gravy:

1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, thinly sliced
3 oz (225g) mushrooms, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Preparation:

1 Prepare the Salisbury Steaks:

In a large bowl, combine the ground
beef, breadcrumbs, milk, chopped
onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire
sauce, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well
until all ingredients are incorporated
Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties
2 Cook the Salisbury Steaks:

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil
over medium-high heat. Add the
patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on
each side until browned. Remove the
patties from the skillet and set aside
3 Make the Mushroom Gravy:

In the same skillet, add the butter
and olive oil. Sauté the sliced onion
and mushrooms over medium heat
until softened, about 5 minutes. Add
the minced garlic and cook for
another minute

Stir in the flour, cooking for 1-2
minutes until lightly browned
Gradually whisk in the beef broth
Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon
mustard (if using). Bring the mixture
to a simmer and cook until the gravy
thickens, about 5 minutes. Season
with salt and pepper to taste
4 Combine and Serve:

Return the Salisbury steaks to the
skillet, spooning some of the gravy
over the top. Let the steaks simmer
in the gravy for another 5 minutes
until heated through
Garnish with chopped parsley and
serve hot with mashed potatoes or
