Loaded Bacon Cheese Fries
Introduction
Here’s an easy and indulgent recipe for Loaded Bacon Cheese Fries—crispy fries smothered in melty cheese, crispy bacon, and a drizzle of ranch or sour cream:
Ingredients:
1 bag (1 lb/450 g) frozen French fries (or homemade fries, see below)
1 1/2 cups (170 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a blend)
6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/4 cup (60 ml) sour cream or ranch dressing
2 green onions, finely sliced
1/4 tsp paprika (optional, for garnish)
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
Cook the Fries:
Prepare the French fries according to package instructions or make homemade fries. Aim for crispy fries to hold the toppings well.
For homemade fries:
Peel (optional) and cut 2 large potatoes into 1/4-inch sticks.
Toss with 2 tbsp olive oil, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp pepper.
Spread on a baking sheet and bake at 425°F (220°C) for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Prepare the Toppings:
While the fries are cooking, fry the bacon until crispy, drain on a paper towel, and crumble into small pieces.
Shred the cheese and slice the green onions.
Assemble the Loaded Fries:
Place cooked fries on a large oven-safe plate or tray.
Sprinkle generously with cheese and bacon.
Return to the oven for 5–7 minutes at 400°F (200°C), or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Finish and Serve:
Drizzle sour cream or ranch dressing over the top.
Sprinkle with green onions, paprika, and additional salt and pepper if needed.
Serve immediately and enjoy while warm!
Optional Add-Ons:
Jalapeños: Add sliced jalapeños for a spicy kick.
Chili: Top the fries with a layer of chili before the cheese for a chili cheese fries twist.
Guacamole or Salsa: Add dollops of guacamole or fresh salsa for a Tex-Mex vibe.
