Lasagna with cheesy pasta

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage

9 lasagna noodles (preferably cheese-flavored)

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 onion, chopped

1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes

2 teaspoons dried basil

1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste

1 teaspoon dried oregano

15 ounces ricotta cheese

Salt and pepper to taste

1 egg

2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

In a large skillet, cook the ground beef or Italian sausage over medium heat until browned. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook until softened.

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a separate bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, and Parmesan cheese until well combined.

To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish. Place three lasagna noodles on top. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by a third of the remaining meat sauce and a third of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers, ending with the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.

Enjoy!
